We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act as a practice even where the law does not bind a non-profit. This is what that means on this site.

What we never collect

Diagnosis or health information; benefit file numbers; income, rent or bank figures; Social Insurance Number (SIN); date of birth; photographs of people; copies of letters or forms; a person's disability by anyone's inference — only the words a person chooses, or nothing.

What each form keeps

• Contact and format requests: what you wrote and one way to reach you. Kept while we are answering, then two years in a working file, then deleted.
• A barrier report: where, when and what happened. It is anonymous unless you tick a box. A way to reach you is kept only if you tick "contact me", and is removed after the retention period shown on that page. Two named people read reports. Every time a report is opened, that is recorded.
• Newsletter: your email, the date you asked, and the date you confirmed. Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe.
• Report a change to the directory: what changed and, if you give one, how to reach you. The correction stays as organisational data; your contact is deleted within two years.

Counts, never people

Numbers we publish are totals. Any count under five is shown as "fewer than 5". Nothing identifying a resident is ever in our open data.

Ask the Secretary through the Contact page. We answer within 45 days; most requests the same week.
