Who we are

Paws on the Flipside Foundation is an Alberta non-profit. Its public name is Central Alberta Accessibility Champions. It was founded by Robin Rhodes. The board is listed below, by public name, with each person's own consent.

What we do

• Rooms. We visit venues and record five facts about getting in and taking part: step-free entry, step-free to the room, an accessible washroom, wheelchair seating, accessible parking. We say yes, no, or that the venue could not confirm it. We never rate a place or call it "accessible".
• A checked record. We keep a directory of the organisations that serve disabled people in Central Alberta, and we phone to check it stays true.
• One table. The Access Table brings agencies and self-advocates together four times a year, publishes its minutes, and carries one standing ask to City Council.
• Service dog teams. We help the public, businesses, health services and first responders understand what a service dog team is and what the law says.

Who carries our work

Our access facts appear on Red Deer Marquee and Alberta Current beside every room we have checked, with our name and the date. They are partners and channels, not owners: they hold no seat on our board and no vote at the Table. The Red Deer Community for Jazz Music is a non-profit in the same rooms; its rooms were the first we checked.

Our founding

Robin Rhodes is the founder and first director. Andrew Ludtke is the second subscriber and Program Partner — a member with one vote, no office and no signing authority. His words appear here only where Robin has placed them.
