Memorandum of understanding: a template

Draft. This is a template. Nothing here is an agreement until both sides sign a copy with the blanks filled in.

The parties

Central Alberta Accessibility Champions (the legal name is Paws on the Flipside Foundation), and: [the partner organisation's legal name and public name].

Purpose

To make places and services in Central Alberta easier for disabled people to reach and use. To do that, the two sides share plain facts, sessions and a seat at one table.

What the society gives

• Room sheets for the partner's sites, with the partner's review before they are published.
• Short sessions for the partner's staff on service dog teams and on the five access facts.
• The directory as open data, with corrections within ten working days.
• A seat at the Access Table, if the partner wants one.
• A partner account on this site, once the data-sharing note is signed.

What the partner gives

• One named liaison who answers within ten working days.
• A review of each room sheet for the partner's own sites.
• Time for staff to attend a session.
• Counts, never people, when the partner reports back on what changed.

No money

No money changes hands under this agreement. A grant, a fee or a donation needs its own written agreement.

No exclusivity

Either side may work with anyone else. Nothing here stops the partner from working with another group, and nothing stops the society from working with another organisation of the same kind.

Naming each other

Neither side names the other in public until that side has agreed to it in writing. The society names a partner on this site only after that consent is recorded.

Term

This agreement runs for one year from the date of the last signature. It renews for another year unless one side says, in writing, that it should not.

How to end it

Either side may end this agreement at any time with thirty days' written notice. No reason is needed. The data-sharing note ends with it, and shared reports are deleted by the partner.

What this is not

This is not a contract for services, a joint venture or a partnership in law. Neither side speaks for the other.

Signatures

For the society: name, role, date. For the partner: name, role, organisation, date. Each side keeps a signed copy.
